The Mission Team from St.
Mary’s Church in Sycamore spent a week this summer with more than 250 teens and adult chaperones from across the Midwest at Catholic Heart Work Camp serving the less fortunate in Milwaukee.
The students helped people in private homes, schools, community, senior and youth centers and assisted nonprofit agencies and religious organizations in completing much-needed work such as home repairs, painting, landscaping, serving food, sorting donations and cleaning.
Participants had an opportunity to visit with their residents, pray together and bring joy.
In addition to a full work day, attendees participated in daily Mass, praise and worship and team-building activities throughout the week.
Anyone interested in learning more about Catholic Heart Work Camp and joining the St. Mary’s Mission Team is encouraged to attend an informational meeting at 7 p.m.
Wednesday in the St. Mary’s Parish Activity Center, 322 Waterman St. in Sycamore.
